Research Trends of Crisis Intervention Art Therapy Program (1996-2018): Focusing on Survivors of Violence and Abuse

|
The purpose of this study was to systematically investigate the research trends of crisis intervention art therapy programs, focusing on survivors of violence and abuse. Results of this study can provide basis data to suggest future direction of development. Subjects to be analyzed were 154 Korean research papers from 1996 to 2018. Results of this study are as follows. First, research on crisis intervention art therapy programs is ongoing since the 1996 paper. Second, subjects of the art therapy of crisis intervention showed the highest frequency of children and domestic violence was the most common type of damage. Third, the study of crisis intervention art therapy program showed the highest frequency of single case design. Fourth, as a result of analyzing the composition of the art therapy program, 16-20 sessions were mainly performed and the time required for each sessions was less than 60 minutes. In the first session, rapport formation was the most common treatment goal. In early, middle, and late session, self-exploration was the most common treatment goal. The improvement of coping ability was found to be the highest in treatment goals of the final session. Results of this study are meaningful in that they can be used as basic data for future art therapy for crisis intervention and professional art therapy programs for survivors of violence and abuse.
